The city of Miami, Florida, hosted the Third Meeting of Business Members of Chapters of the Business Alliance for Secure Commerce (BASC) – World BASC Organization, within the framework of the 11th BASC Global Conference. This event, held for the first time in Miami, was an initiative of the WBO Board of Directors to create an exclusive networking space for entrepreneurs who lead the Organization through the 23 member chapters present in 11 countries of the Americas.
This Meeting had its first face-to-face meeting in Cartagena de Indias in 2019, within the framework of the BASC Global Conference of that year. Subsequently, due to mobility restrictions due to the pandemic, it was carried out remotely. In 2022, Lima, Peru, was the host city, and this year, the event took place in Miami, the headquarters of the World BASC Organization.
During the event, on behalf of WBO, there were opening remarks by Oscar Sanchez, current Chairman of the Board of Directors of WBO; Erik Moncayo, International President and Suzanne Lemaitre, Executive Director. In their speeches, they highlighted the importance of this forum as a key platform to strengthen business globally and share good practices among business leaders.
As part of the agenda, a special mention was made to Emilio Aguiar, Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of WBO, in recognition of his strategic vision, as the impetus of this meeting. Mauricio Lloreda, President of Protekto Americas, a leading company in cargo traceability with patented and innovative solutions for the supply chain, the primary sponsor of this ceremony, also participated.
In addition, the more than 80 business leaders had the opportunity to interact and generate connections from the exhibition hall that brought together, for three days, prominent sponsoring companies of the BASC Global Conference such as: VMI Security, Alfridomsa, Miami International Airport - MIA, Smart Security Solutions, Grupo Narval, Krieger Worldwide, Satlock, Barquet Stege, Carga MCL, OWT Cargo, American Realty, Jenny Amaya, Helm Bank USA, Serverli and Molitiam. This trade show was complemented by U.S. government agencies such as Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and its CTPAT program.
This Third BASC Member Meeting reaffirmed WBO's commitment to continue working together to strengthen security in the international supply chain. The ceremony not only celebrates past achievements, but also offers an invaluable platform for international collaboration and innovation. It becomes an enabling environment to strengthen strategies and create connections that allow us to move towards a safer and more reliable future for global trade.
